8th Grade Transition to High School

  • Most high schools (DCSD and private) offer tours/shadow days. Contact schools directly for details

November

  • DCSD first round of open enrollment begins 11/2/20

  • Open enroll if your student wishes to attend a high school other than your assigned DCSD high school

  • Out-of-district students ARE NOT automatically enrolled into a high school and must take action to enroll in their local high school or open enroll in DCSD

  • Come learn about life at Regis Jesuit High School! On November 5th at 6:30 pm, RJHS will be hosting a virtual info night for 8th grade families. Meet our Director of Admissions, Paul Muller, and learn about a wide array of topics, including academics, athletics, transportation, and financial aid. There will be time for questions as well. December

  • DCSD open enrollment window closes 12/1/2020

  • DCSD automatically rolls district students from PCK to DCSD high school (even if your student plans to attend a private high school)

January

  • Registration/course selection - must attend Charter High School Night for Chaparral, Legend, or Ponderosa to receive registration/course packet.

  • Chaparral Showcase, Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Please click the link for details

  • Legend and Ponderosa have announced January 2021 for their charter school night; however, further information is not available as of yet

  • Select DCSD freshman classes and secure teacher approvals for math, English, Spanish, science and AP World Geography on student completed registration form (register for classes if attending a private school has NOT been confirmed)

  • Registration form must be returned to high schools per school instructions and timelines

  • DCSD second round of open enrollment begins January 22, 2021 thru August 2, 2021

March

  • Parents confirm student’s high school placement to PCK registrar (DCSD and private)

  • Notify DCSD high school if not attending

May

  • PCK reconfirms high school placement for all graduating 8th graders

  • PCK Graduation at Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, May 25, 2021

  • Student’s DCSD schedule will be available on parent portal when ready
